New COVID Conditions Announced this Afternoon

Good afternoon families,

We have just been informed by the Chief Health Officer that a number of additional Health Orders have been issued this afternoon that will impact on all schools, including ours.

Firstly, as of tomorrow, while Parents & Carers will still be allowed onto school grounds, under the new Health Order, no Parents or Carers will be permitted to enter our classrooms. If you need to discuss a matter with your child’s teacher, they will need to meet with you outside of the classroom. Please note that this will not always be possible, as the teachers also need to provide adequate supervision to the students inside the classroom at this time.

While this may cause distress to some families, please understand that we have no option but to follow the Health Directions issues this afternoon, as they are lawful orders.

In addition to this, we have also been advised that school camps are not to go ahead, effective immediately. For our school, this will have a big impact as our Year 6 Students are due to depart for their camp this Wednesday. I have been in contact with Dare Adventures to postpone our camp to later in the year, and will be in contact with all Year 6 Families tomorrow to outline the arrangements.

While I know that this news will be quite disappointing to all families, please be assured that we will do all that we can at the school to ensure that our Year 6 Students do get to participate in a camp this year. It is very unfortunate that we have had to take this action, however once the Health Order was announced we had no choice but to postpone.

Please keep an eye on the school newsletter tomorrow for further information regarding the above information, as well as updates through Skoolbag.

Once again, please accept my sincerest apologies for the inconvenience that has been caused by the new Health Orders that affect our students, staff and families.

Kind Regards
Phil Greenmount
Principal
